Jamaican folk songs in Luxemburg
A Jamaican,Paul, now living in Luxemburg with his family was so delighted to see his favorite folk songs scored and recorded in Sing and Play the Jamaican Way,at the Devon House shops. You see, when he was in Jamaica, he was the guitarist in a folk group. He has gone back to Luxemburg with the intention of getting all the Jamaicans together to sing and dance once again. Will keep you posted on new developments.

So we are now in May. Sing and Play the Jamaican Way is making waves in the music and gift shops especially the Craft Cottage , Music Mart and Things Jamaican Shops. It is interesting to note that some shops sell mainly CDs, while for others, it is the book that holds the interest of the customers. There was a vibrant celebration of Jamaican folk music again at Bookophilia and everyone sang from their music sheets and their booklets.

Guardian life Singers really made it big at their annual "Blast off" conference and they are now getting ready for their awards presentations at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel this month. Lots of work but we are doing what we like.
This year, Sound of Joy is concentrating on some new music; compositions/ arrangements that reflect us. So far we have started with a few ideas and are working on a 2 year plan in this area. In the meantime we have done some private functions, luncheons and are working on a few small projects for clients.
"Sing and Play" products are now in gift shops at the International airports, Amazon .com, and local gift and craft shops.

It's a New Year
Well, Christmas has come and gone, and as, usual, Sound of Joy was very busy for the season. We provided live entertainment for banquets including The Institute of Chartered Accountant of Jamaica, St Hugh's High School Teacher's Awards and others, customer service day at the UWI bookshop (our 10th year), Christmas tree lightings, family functions, weddings, cocktail evenings and rehearsed and backed the Scotiabank Singers in their concert in the Emancipation Park. Our main activity, though, was the distribution and sale of 'Sing and Play the Jamaican Way' to stores and at craft fairs. The products are now available in Jamaican gift shops, at the international airports, and online at Amazon. At the request of the Jamaican High Commission in London we shipped a batch in December and look forward to more orders !
